Long Grief After Suicide
Written for those who are grieving and wondering what is normal. The grief that lives beneath a composed face. The morning eight years in when a word you thought had quieted comes back. The worship song that stabs in a room full of people who hear it differently. The well-meaning sentence that lands like a door closing.
You will hear when the book is available. You will also get new posts, which is most of what I send.
The book takes its name from Still Here, a post about staying alive through a hard grief season. It grows that post into a survivor's whole long grief instead of one week of it.
Three sections written to be used, not just read.
What to say, what to do, and what to stop saying. Written for the friend who wants to help and has no idea how.
How to start a suicide loss support group. Training, a room, flyers, guidelines, and how to hold it without it costing you everything.
Crisis lines, the organizations that understand suicide loss specifically, and an honest word about the ones that do not.
I have lived inside this loss since my son Caleb died by suicide in June 2018 at twenty-one. I co-facilitate a Survivors of Suicide Loss group, and I have been writing about long grief at DavidALloyd.com since 2019.
My first book, God Is In the Doubt, is about losses that led to a faith crisis. This one is about what came after the worst of them.
